Internal courier deliveries (overview)

Edit

Internal courier lets you send a delivery with our own drivers instead of an outside courier like Aramex. It works as just another carrier in the Courier module — when you book a delivery you pick the carrier "Internal (own drivers)", and one of our drivers then collects the parcels, delivers them, and captures proof of delivery on their phone.

Use it for anything you'd otherwise hand to a driver yourself: shop-to-site drops, moving stock between branches, taking raw materials to a subcontractor, or a quick local delivery to a customer.

Who does what

  • Dispatcher — books the delivery and assigns it to a driver (optionally with a time window).
  • Driver — sees the job in My Deliveries on their phone, marks it Collected then Delivered, and captures the recipient's signature.
  • Admin — keeps the driver roster up to date (who is allowed to be assigned deliveries).

How a delivery flows

  • Booked — booking self-issues an internal waybill (an ICD… number) and a WB-… consignment.
  • Collected → In transit → Delivered — the driver pushes each step from the field. Delivered needs a signature (proof of delivery); an optional photo and the name of who received it are saved too.
  • Side paths — a driver can Report an issue (the delivery becomes an Exception but can still be finished), and a dispatcher can Cancel a delivery that hasn't gone out.

There is no live GPS tracking on an internal delivery — the driver is the status sensor. Each tap (Collected / In transit / Delivered) updates everyone watching the waybill.

Smart routing (plan trips, not just deliveries)

The module helps you send fewer, fuller trips:

  • Drivers get a route map in My Deliveries — all their stops as numbered pins in the best driving order, the total distance and drive time, and a Start route in Maps button that navigates the whole run in one tap. A tip flags stops that are close together so they're done in one trip.
  • Dispatchers get the Internal Dispatch board with Suggested runs — nearby unassigned deliveries are grouped so you can assign a whole cluster to one driver in one click. A delivery booked without a map address can be given a pin with Set map location so it joins the routing.

Where to find it

  • Drivers: Shipping & Receiving › My Deliveries.
  • Dispatchers & admins: Procurement & Logistics › Couriers — the Internal Dispatch board (book, assign, suggested runs, map) and Courier Drivers (the roster).

Who can use it (permissions)

  • Courier Driver — see and work your own assigned deliveries + capture proof of delivery.
  • Courier Dispatch — assign / re-assign deliveries, suggested runs, set map location, manage the roster.
  • Courier Write — book or record a courier (including an internal delivery).
  • Courier Admin — full courier access (carrier accounts, etc.).
  • Internal courier — driver guide (My Deliveries) — for the people doing the deliveries.
  • Internal courier — dispatcher & roster admin — for booking, assigning, and managing drivers.
