Human Resources (overview)

Edit

What this area is

Human Resources is where you set up the organisation structure, manage employee records, keep an eye on the workforce, and handle people joining and leaving. This page lists each screen in the People ▸ Human Resources menu and names the guide that covers it.

Who can open it: every screen here is permission-gated. You only see the menu items your role allows (HR read or write, the Attendance report permission, the Disciplinary report permission, and so on). If a screen below is not in your menu, you do not hold its permission.

The screens

  • HR Portal — the HR launchpad: the People rail, the "Needs attention" tiles and the HR Duties / Employees / Attendance / Joiners & Leavers / Payroll tabs. It replaced the HR Health dashboard on 2026-09-02. Guide: HR Portal.
  • Company Events — create and publish company events and announcements, with RSVPs, images and polls. Guide: Company Events & Announcements — a manager's guide.
  • Employee Directory — the card view of everyone, with quick status pills, and the Add Employee onboarding wizard. Guide: Add & manage employees.
  • Employee Table — the same people as a sortable, filterable table for bulk lookups and exports. No separate guide; the fields are the ones described in the Employee Record guides below.
  • SimplePay Employees — the link between myWork employees and their SimplePay records (SimplePay admin permission). Background: How SimplePay mapping works in Payroll.
  • Organigram — the company-wide org chart, with Edit mode for HR write. Guide: The full org chart (HR view).
  • HR Settings — departments, job positions, organisations, document types, and leave types, plans and balances. Guides: HR Settings - organisation setup and HR Settings — leave types, plans & balances.
  • Activity Log — a filterable audit trail of who changed what across HR, attendance and leave. Guide: Activity Log (HR).

Reports

  • Employee hours for HR — read-only payroll-prep hours per person (worked, authorised, overtime, shortfall, leave). Guide: Employee hours for HR.
  • Overtime breakdown — overtime per person split by day type for a date window. Attendance report permission. The figures follow the model in How working time is calculated: ordinary hours, overtime & authorised time.
  • Manual Entry Audit — every manually keyed or edited attendance record, with who did it. Guide: Manual Entry Audit.
  • Disciplinary Report — one employee's whole picture (incidents, escalations, strikes, KPI) before any formal action. Guide: Disciplinary Report — the whole picture before acting.

Onboarding and offboarding

  • Onboarding ▸ Starter Provisioning — the equipment a new starter's position entitles them to, and the Issue action that records it on the asset register. Guide: Starter Provisioning.
  • Offboarding ▸ Pending Gear Returns — reconcile a leaver's issued gear before their last day; termination blocks on tracked gear. Guide: Pending Gear Returns (offboarding).

Deeper guides in this folder

  • The Employee Record — the employee page and each of its tabs: Personal Info, Documents, Job history & employment status, Salary, banking & compliance, Attendance & Shifts, Leave Balances, Offboarding. Start with The employee page (HR): an employee's full record.
  • Departments: build the structure and put people in them — how departments and reporting lines are built.
  • IncidentsThe Incident Log (QIL): how a disciplinary incident works, Raising an incident (formal or verbal), The formal process: acknowledgement, the Sanction Lock & imposing a sanction, and Incident dashboard (HR). The employee's own view is My Incidents: if an incident is raised about you.

Good to know

New here? Start with HR Settings - organisation setup to build departments and positions, then Add & manage employees to onboard people.

The reports are read-only. The records and settings screens are where data changes.

Employee records, pay and disciplinary history are confidential. Open them only when your role and task require it.

  • Attendance (overview) and the Payroll folder cover the other two People areas.
  • Your duties as a manager lists what line managers do for their own team (Manage hours, Manage schedules, leave).
  • Attendance status field definitions and Leave request statuses field definitions are the glossaries.
