Dashboard: the Management Portal tab

Edit

What this guide covers

The Management Portal tab is a manager's daily cockpit: pick the team you're looking after, see who's in today, and act on what's pending — all from one screen.

Who sees it: department managers, and holders of manager tools (the attendance module, the incident permissions, or bonus-grant management). A shortcut-only user sees the tools without the full coverage board or the Team Leave Calendar.

A "Manager guide" link next to the heading opens the article on your duties as a manager inside the Help panel.

How it works

1. Pick your team

Three controls scope the board:

  • Scope buttons — "My departments", plus "Standing in", "All departments" or "Custom" when they apply to you. Only shown when you have more than one scope to choose from.
  • Departments — a picker that opens a tree of the departments in your scope. Tick the ones you want, then "Apply" (or "Reset" to go back to the scope's own departments). If you manage one department, it's already selected.
  • Filters — opens the "Filter the roster" panel. Under "Pending items" you can narrow the roster to people with "Leave", "Custom schedule", "Warnings" or "Hours to authorise" waiting on you. The button shows a badge with the number of active filters, and "Clear all" removes them.

2. Today's coverage + roster

The coverage hero reads "N of M in today" with a coverage percentage and the name of the scope you are viewing. A bar shows the split of the people expected today.

Below it are five clickable chips, each with a live count: In, Out, Not in yet, On leave and Off. Click a chip to filter the roster to those people; click it again to clear. The coverage percentage counts only In, Out and Not in yet — people on leave or on a rest day are shown as chips but are deliberately left out of the denominator, so the number stays honest.

The roster is a card per person showing their current status, sorted not-here-first. Multiple departments group under headers.

3. Needs your action

Action tiles appear only when something is pending, each with a "→" that opens the screen that does the work:

  • Weeks to review — opens the weekly overtime report to review closed weeks.
  • Unauthorised hours — opens Team Hours to authorise or decline beyond-schedule time.
  • Leave to approve — opens the leave approvals queue.

4. Planning & reference

"Upcoming leave · next 30 days" lists approved team leave (first three rows, then "Show all"), with a "View all" link. Below it, department managers get the Team Leave Calendar: a month grid with "Previous month" / "Next month" arrows, a "Today" button, coloured pills per person and a "+N more" marker on busy days.

Good to know

  • It's a launchpad, not the work itself — the "→" on each action opens the proper screen (for example Team Hours or the approvals queue).
  • Coverage is "right now" — for historical detail use the attendance reports.
  • Scope follows the department picker — change it to look after a different team you manage. A page opened from a roster card can send you back here with the same team selected.
  • Manage hours, Manage schedules, Manage your team's leave — the manager screens these tiles open.
  • Daily monitoring & attendance reports — deeper attendance views.
  • Dashboard: the My Day tab, Dashboard: the Admin tab, Dashboard: the Calendar tab.
