What this guide covers
Looking up where each serialised unit currently is and viewing its move history. Serial Number Locations is a search-driven report; you do not move units from this page — moves go through the picking dialog or a move order. The one write it allows is correcting a mis-captured serial number.
For the bins themselves see Warehouse Locations. For aggregate product-by-bin see Product Locations.
Where to find it
Open Locations → SerialNumber Location. The page title is "Serial Number Locations". The same look-up is also embedded in the picking dialog when you scan a serial.
Who can do what
Report viewer — the menu entry appears for holders of SerialNumberReport, MOVE_ORDER_ADMIN or SALES_ORDERS_ADMIN. Search, view the current bin, view the move log, export to Excel.
Serial corrector (SerialNumberCorrect) — fix a typo or mis-scan on a unit still in stock (see below).
Site admin (ADMIN) — full access.
There is no control to change a serial's location from this page. Moves always go through the picking / move-order workflow so the audit trail stays clean.
Searching
One search box: "Search serial / product / location...". It matches the serial number (exact or partial), the product code or description, and the location name. There is no status filter — the report lists units currently in stock.
The Excel button exports the current list.
Reading a row
SN — the serial number.
Product — code and description.
Location — warehouse, then area · location.
Actions — the Move log icon, and (for correctors) a pencil to correct the serial.
The move log
Click Move log on a row to open the Move Log dialog — every historical move for this serial, in order:
Type — the movement type, with its date.
From — source area and location.
To — destination area and location.
Qty — quantity moved, with "SN: …" underneath.
This is the audit trail — read it instead of trying to reconstruct what happened from work-order timelines. Every move (collect, dispatch, drop-off, scrap, sale) lands here in chronological order.
Correcting a serial number
If a serial was captured wrongly (a mis-scan on receipt, a typo) and the unit is still in stock, a holder of SerialNumberCorrect can click the pencil on the row. The Correct serial number dialog shows the product and the current serial; scan or type the correct serial, give a reason (for example "mis-scan on receipt") and click Save correction.
Correction is local-only. It is blocked for serials that Unleashed already knows about, and every correction is recorded as a zero-quantity SERIAL_CORRECTION move so the history stays intact.
Tips and gotchas
A serial in multiple locations is a data-integrity bug. A serialised unit should never appear in two bins at once; if it does, contact RnD with the serial number — it indicates a missed move-completion or a duplicate-creation event.
To move a unit, pick it from Warehouse Locations or Product Locations, or raise a Move Orders request. This page only tells you where it is.
Sales-order-allocated serials cannot be picked while the allocation holds. Release the allocation on the Sales Order side if you really need to redirect.
Units that have left stock (sold, scrapped, sent out) no longer appear in the list; their history is still in the Serial Number Move report under Warehouse → Reports (MOVE_ORDER_ADMIN).
