Work Order step catalogue

Edit

Every step you can put in a WorkFlow, what it is for, and whether it runs by itself or waits for somebody. If you are not sure which one you need, read the When not to use it section on the page that looks closest - that is the part written to send you to the right step.

New to work orders? Start with Work Orders: WorkFlows, runs and steps.

Why some names end in "(new)". Several steps were rebuilt, and both the old and the new version ran side by side while work already in progress finished on the old one. Only the new version can be added now, and the suffix will be dropped once the last old one has drained. If you see a plain Local Receipt on an existing work order and Local Receipt (new) in the Add Step list, they are the same job.

Steps you may see but cannot add

Older work orders still carry step types that have been withdrawn from the Add Step list. They keep working - nothing in flight was disturbed - but new WorkFlows use the replacement instead.

Withdrawn Use instead
Delivery Request, Collection Request Move Order They were never two things - one document, two directions.
Local Receipt, Repair Router, Repair Task, Local Shipment, Assembly Task, Courier Booking, Reclassify Stock the same step without "(new)" beside it The originals, kept running only so work already in flight can finish.
Sales Shipment (Create), Wait for Shipment Dispatch, Zero-cost Sales Order Sell and Ship Three steps collapsed into one.
Sell / Replace Item, BMSEX Zero-cost Sales Order, Receive Returned Item no direct replacement Ask before building a WorkFlow that needed one of these.
Material Used Move Order Material is fetched, not declared.
Repair Assessment, Send Tracking Email nothing Never used on a single work order, and withdrawn.
