Live map and vehicle tracking

What this guide covers

Viewing where your vehicles are in real time on the Live Map, reading the status indicators, and understanding how fresh the positions are.

Where to find it

Open Fleet → Live Map. Every vehicle you are allowed to see is plotted on a map. The map updates automatically — you do not need to refresh the page.

Reading the map

  • Each marker is a vehicle at its latest known position.
  • The Vehicles list also shows an online dot per vehicle: it indicates whether a recent GPS fix has been received.
  • Selecting a vehicle shows its registration and last-seen detail.

How fresh the positions are

  • Positions come from the Cartrack telematics feed and are pulled on a background schedule (roughly every 30 seconds).
  • The map and lists read the locally cached position — the app never makes you wait for a live call to the tracking provider.
  • If a vehicle has not reported recently (ignition off, out of coverage, device asleep), it shows as offline and its marker stays at the last reported spot.

What you can see

  • Public vehicles — visible to all fleet users, including their live location and trips.
  • Private vehiclesnot shown on the map at all unless you are on that vehicle's access list. This is by design: even a fleet administrator does not see a private vehicle's location. See Private vehicles and access control.
  • Vehicle details: photos, documents, trips and custody history — for the route history of a single vehicle.
  • GPS integration setup (Cartrack) — for administrators connecting or troubleshooting the feed.
